We teach adoptees and birth parents how to prepare and search for each other to help them find what was lost and help heal.
Things have changed for participants in the adoption circle over the past 10-15 years. The idea of reuniting adoptees and birth parents is beginning to positively enter the public consciousness. There are even several TV series devoted to reuniting lost family, and although there is still an enormous amount of further work to do, we see this shifting of public perception as a very good step in the right direction.
As this perception shifts and more and more adoptees and birth parents see others just like them opening themselves up to reunion and it’s benefits, we see that very few people know how to search and just as importantly how to prepare themselves for what they may find, good or bad.
We want to give those who decide to search, every tool and every bit of advice we can to help maximise the probabilities for success in their search and in their attempts to connect.
Our Goals and Vision
Who We Are
Search Find Become is a platform created by adoptees for adoptees and birth parents.
The Search Find Become Course is designed for adoptees and birth parents who have decided to search but don’t know how to do so. Not only are there very powerful tools available to assist in identifying and locating people, but it is imperative that those who engage in this journey prepare themselves. A great deal of the course focuses on ensuring searchers are prepared, as much as they can be.
Search Find Become is founded on the experiences of our instructor, Derek Grimm, and his decades long search for his first family.
Although it is mostly a success story, in hindsight, there were many wasted, lonely, frustrating years of nothingness. There were years of wandering around aimlessly because he didn’t know how to search. There were many mistakes made and learned from, and there were many obstacles ultimately surmounted.
We never know what life has in store. Those wasted years cost Derek his chance to meet and speak with his biological father. He missed his father by weeks. He missed his mother by almost two decades.
There are more and more people taking that massive first step in deciding to search, but many of them don’t know where to begin or how to search. This course has been created in direct response to that need.

The experience he has gained through the years of his search, the successes, and the lessons he learned from the mistakes he made form the backbone of the Search Find Become course. The skills he learned are now the keys to unlocking the gate to your own journey of discovery and origins.
Derek feels very strongly that the best way to honour the gifts he received as part of his search and reunion, is to pay it forward and help those who are embarking on their own search, in hopes that not only will they find what they are looking for, but that it won’t take 35 years like it did him!
